Don't (JUST) Be a Visionary, Be a Problem Solver
Learn How to Build a Successful Business (Without Getting Slapped)
Let me tell you a personal story: earlier in my business as a creative agency owner, I made a mistake that almost cost me everything. I was so focused on my creative vision that I forgot to solve my client's business problems.
It all came to a head when I had a particularly difficult client who disagreed with my vision. I pushed back, insisting that my vision was the best one and that I knew what was best for their business. But that was a big mistake.
The client, frustrated and angry, almost slapped me in the face. It was a wake-up call for me. I realized that I had been approaching my business all wrong. I wasn't there to push my creative vision; I was there to solve problems.
Since then, I've learned that business is not about selling products or services. It's about becoming a problem solver. In a world where everyone is trying to sell something, the real winners are those who solve problems that people didn't even know they had.
So, if you're looking to start a successful business, here are 5 actionable tips that may go against the conventional wisdom but can help you become a true problem solver:
Stop focusing on your passions
Yes, you heard it right. Contrary to popular belief, not every passion is a good business idea. Instead, focus on solving problems that people are willing to pay for. Look for pain points you can address, then figure out how to monetize them.
Don't just listen to your customers.
Sometimes, customers don't know what they want until you show it to them. As a problem solver, your job is to identify problems that your customers didn't even know existed and then offer a solution that they didn't even know they needed.
Embrace failure.
Failure is not the opposite of success. It's a part of it. As a problem solver, you must be willing to try new things, even if they may not work out. Fail fast, learn from your mistakes, and keep moving forward.
Simplify, simplify, simplify.
We often think more features or options are better, but sometimes, less is more. As a problem solver, your job is to make things easier for your customers. Simplify your product or service, and focus on delivering a great user experience.
Don't chase the money.
Money is not a problem to solve; it's a reward for solving problems. If you focus too much on making money, you'll lose sight of what's really important - solving problems and creating value for your customers.
So, there you have it. 5 actionable tips to help you become a problem solver in your business.
