Starting from scratch, especially when you’ve lost everything, can be a scary and humbling experience, but it's also an opportunity to reinvent yourself and create something new.

In the movie Iron Man, there's a scene where Tony Stark is held captive in a cave and forced to build a weapon for terrorists. With limited resources and no support, he uses his skills and ingenuity to create the first Iron Man suit. The cave experience transformed Tony Stark from a narcissistic billionaire, if we’re being honest, to a selfish billionaire superhero. Haha. The point is the scene is a perfect example of how starting from scratch means using what you have at the moment.

I can relate to this experience. As an entrepreneur, I've had to pivot and adapt my business several times. I went from running a creative agency with a team to running a one-person business. It wasn't easy, but it taught me valuable lessons about resilience and resourcefulness.

  1. Be humble: Starting from scratch means that you don't know everything. Be open to learning and seeking advice from those before you.

  2. Overcome limiting beliefs: Don't let fear and self-doubt hold you back. Recognise your limiting beliefs and challenge them. Believe in yourself and your ability to succeed.

  3. Start with what you have: You may not have everything you need to succeed, but you have something. Use your skills, resources, and network to get started. Don't wait for the perfect moment or the perfect opportunity.

  4. Take action: Starting from scratch requires action. Don't get stuck in analysis paralysis. Take small steps every day towards your goals.

  5. Seek support: Starting from scratch can be lonely. Seek out a community of like-minded individuals who can offer support and guidance along the way.

Starting from scratch can be daunting, but it's also an opportunity to create something new and exciting. Embrace the challenge, stay positive, and keep pushing forward.
